At present India is emerging as an influential country to the whole world. Most of the powerful nations of the world want to have friendly relations with India. Another country has been added to that list, which is called Egypt. Muslim-majority Egypt has expressed its willingness to sign a significant defense pact with India. India and Egypt are soon going to sign an agreement to buy India's indigenous warplanes in a joint venture between the Indian Air Force, Navy, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Incidentally, many powerful countries of the world have expressed their desire to buy this multi-role light fighter aircraft of indigenous technology built in India. In that list, countries like the USA, Australia, Malaysia, Argentina, Indonesia, Philippines, etc. are notable. But this is the first time a Muslim country in the Middle East has expressed interest in buying Tejas fighter jets. There are reports that Egypt may buy 70 Tejas fighter jets from India if all goes well.

Egypt is a very important country. The geographical location makes this country very important to the world. Egypt's Suez Canal connects the Americas and Europe with Asia and the Middle East. 12 percent of the world's total international trade is conducted through these waterways. All countries want to strengthen foreign relations with Egypt due to its geographical location. Over the past few years, India and Egypt have been seen strengthening their ties. This time, it is expected that the Tejas fighter aircraft contract will strengthen the friendship between the two countries in the field of defense. Earlier, during the Russia-Ukraine war, the Indian government banned the export of wheat across the world. During this time India exported wheat to Egypt.

Recently, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and India's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar visited Egypt. The President of Egypt has invited Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as a special guest on India Republic Day in 2023. Egypt was also one of the 9 guest countries invited to the G-20 meeting held in India in the same year. Egypt is particularly interested in strengthening relations between the two countries. Last year, both countries participated in joint military exercises.
